Laser sintering of coated polyamide 12: a new way to improve flammability

In this study coatings of kaolin and talc particles were successfully applied on the surface polyamide 12 powder intended for laser sintering (LS). Microscopic observations revealed that using carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as modifier fillers led to a better coverage polymer grains with between 6 16% function filler type content. Differential scanning calorimetry measurements showed addition an increase in crystallization temperature PA12, but at expense processability. Process parameters optimized order manufacture LS samples different coated powders.
